45:33: Nike Original Run -James Murphy

Keeping with the theme of featuring tracks by electronic artists who have partnered up with major sneaker companies, Dr. T would like to direct the reader's attention to 45:33: Nike Original Run.
James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem released this long player two years ago, which features a number of DFA tracks sampled and spliced and mutated into the perfect music for jogging. Not really, but this almost all instrumental jam was commissioned for something akin to jogging, at least in the doctor's eyes. Great Cardio right here ladies n gents.

Theo Parrish

Theo Parrish is a producer of great esteem held dearly by thee Dr. T.
A longtime lover and enthusiast of electronic music and its cultural roots, Dr. T invited the gentle reader to investigate the sonic stylings of Theo Parrish in this short video made by adidas last spring '08. Parrish, has garnered a lot of media attention from the usual suspects within the electronic music industry, most notably for his stance on the trajectory of his music, its place within the framework of "house" music and the issue of race as an african american musician/artist/producer. Dr. T co-signs on Theo Parrish's expression, albeit with minor adjustments and disagreements along the way. (its all complex!)
Please enjoy Lakeshore Drive, a Theo Parrish sultry scorcher of springtime seductiveness.

Music from TWIN PEAKS

Doctor Tee's favorite television series of all time, Twin Peaks, was not only the brainchild of deep weirdo David Lynch, but also aurally orchestrated by Angelo Badalamenti, renowned film composer. AB and DL had collaborated on a number of DL's projects (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive) all of which were really fucking creepy, of course aided by AB's hilarious and macabre ambient and jazzy instrumentals. The Twin Peaks soundtrack is awesome not only for the sinister and cartoonish appeal of the instrumental tracks but also the tracks with ethereal vocal accompaniment by the most underrated brilliant weird girl Julee Cruise. She has a Broadcast, Cocteau Twins, (perhaps one might wager) Kate bush sort of quality to her range.

SUN ARAW

Beach Head is an LP released by Sun Araw in the fall of 2008. Sun Araw is an experimental genre crossing, genre defying band on the not not fun label. www.notnotfun.com for more info. The sound is sorta like Godspeed (less loud and desperate), sorta Jesu-esque (more upbeat and dreamy) sorta like Glenn Branca (not so heavy and strident, more on the meandering tip).
Its complicated. very hazy, very seductive and very anti-linear.
This record is best represented by the featured video for the song "Horse Steppin";
a surfin safari of post apocalyptic zombie jesus freaks. yeah, its like that.
